This week West Virginia begins its inaugural Big 12 season, and let’s be honest they have an actual shot at a Big 12 title. Point blank period.
The Mountaineers are a well oiled multifacited machine. Thouh they are with out Dustin Garrison (Go Oilers!) the are still briming with talent. Anyone who follows college football knows who Geno Smith is. If not then here is a fun fact, Geno in 3, uno dos tres, appearances has completed nearly 100 passes, and 1000 yds resulting in 12 scores. The two leading recievers share 10 TDs, and nearly 700 yds. Not just good through the air but solid on the ground are the mountaineers with two backs spliting the current 60 carry work load evenly and averaging almost 6 yds per carry.
With all of that on offense, argueably one of the most explosive in the Big 12, I don’t know of a defense that they cannot take and just dismantle. With the collapse of Boomer Sooner againist the Dark Horse Kansas State Team. The Longhorn and Hornfrogs defense not being the tyrant that it once was. I search for the team that will provide a stifling defense and a semi-solid offense to slow down the mountaineers.
Geno Smith throw for 656 on 45/51 passes and 8 TDs. Now that is how you say hello to all the teams in the Big 12. Not sure that the mountaineer defense sent the same message allowing 63 points in a wild 70 – 63 win for the mountaineers.
