I Need A Dollar

Awesome just Awesome.

Applied Photography

Recently got into film & photography with NTK. Just looking at this picture says so much. I am not a big bears fan but I am a big fan of Urlacher. This picture not only highlights him but also his position in the center suggests the importance he plays in the teams success.  Even the flash from the camera implies that his talent makes others around him shine that much brighter.

Welcome Back Eddie Johnson

Red River Rivalry (Week 7 2012)

#15 Texas and #13 Oklahoma continue their legendary rivalry this season.  The two teams have not quite lived up to their expectations this season and this game used to be a preview for the Big 12 championship game. So there is a lot missing from the atmosphere in Dallas this weekend. But don’t think that this won’t be a good game.

Oklahoma off 41-20 romp of the Red Raiders in Lubbock, a game in which Landry Jones went 25 of 40 for 259 yds and 2 TDs. Though this is an awesome output from OU the only reason it is a key stat coming into this game is the Longhorn defensive has been horrendous. Lou Holtz found that the yds per attempt allowed by this years team is the second worst in Longhorn history. The thing I would concentrate on as a Sooner would be the running game to keep the ball away from the efficient David Ash. Though OU didn’t show this off against Texas Tech if Damien Williams can have a ‘break out’ game against the Longhorn defense then David Ash and the surprisingly good offense from Austin won’t have a chance to respond.

Longhorns need defense. Not turnovers, not big hard psychological hits, just defense. Three n outs, tackles for a loss, broken up passes, and solid tackling. If the Longhorn defense can get 3 or more OU possessions to be scoreless the game is close.

ENJOY THE STATE FAIR!

Mike Leach is all out of “easy” games (Week 6 2012)

With the last two games for The Cougars I has become more apparent for the new coach that he is not playing in the Big 12 anymore. Teams in the Pac 12 are faster and thus score quickly. Now granted he has a quick score offense but it requires experience like any complex offense. Lack of familiarity proved key in this weeks loss to Oregon State. And t he WSU schedule of Cal, @Stanford, @Utah, UCLA, @ASU, and WASH doesn’t allow for many more growing pains.

The Beavers defense caused 5 turn overs 3 if which were interceptions made by Jordan Poyer. Poyer second interception actually forced Coach Leach to sub in his back up QB, Jeff Tuel. I can’t say whether or not that was the bestbcall to make as I didn’t see the game but I know it is better to keep faith in yor starter unless your going to switch starters all together.
Next week Mike Leach must face the struggling Golden Bears of Cal who are coming off an impressive upset victory over an exciting looking UCLA Bruins team. If this was Mike Leach’s Texas Tech team I would say get ready for a possible offensive explosion but its not and I think if he doesn’t stick with a QB Cal can easily make it two in a row.

Season’s on the line for the Yellow Jackets (Week 6 2012)

And unfortunatly this year The Ramblin Wrek travel to Death Valley … say your prays Tech fans I think this may go doen rough. In short there is an infinitly small chance that we leave Death Valley with a resounding victory. If Paul Johnson pulls off the win it will have to look like the Miami game this year except with the Yellow Jackets in the roll of Miami and coming back late in the game, from a forseeibly large defiecit.

Since I finished that first paragraph at least a day or two before the game, I have to say its funny how accurate it was. Tech loss to Clemson 47-31 and in my humble oppinon closed out the chance of this season having any meaning. Granted this game did prove that the Yellow Jacket offense is capable of scoring more then 21 points, three TDs, five games in a row. Now we all know that means little if you don’ when and Tech has won two of those games.

The issue seems to be with 3-4 defense stopping anything, but especially the run late in the game. Since Tech doesn’t pull away from teams once they have the lead, a product of not being able to score quickly, most teams need to control the ball and or clock late in the game. This is done best with a steady rushing attack, which Techs talent hasn’t prevented late in games they have lost.

no sure what’s let to salvage on the season. I would say a victory at UGA but the dawgs just got obliterated by the Gamecocks so that potential victory, wouldn’t mean much.

Bounce Back Garrett (Week 6 2012)

After a dissappointing showing in the Battle for ghe Iron Skillet, SMU needs to bounce back. Especially, the offense and Garrett Gilbert. This week againist a scary UTEP team he attempted to do just that.

Now if you don’t remember UTEP, University of Texas – El Paso, they are the team that scare pd the crap out of the highly ranked Sooners in week one of the season, and in my oppinion exposed the weaknesses in OU that teams still exploit to this day. Bringing pressure and keeping what was again thought to be a higly regarded senior QB inefficient until the 4th quarter, UTEP seemed to be ready to make a mark this season. Having not caught a break in any big games, againist Wisconson (37-26) and Ole Miss (28-10), this game looked to be a chance for them to turn the season around.

Unfortunately for The Miners the SMU defense was in full affect causing three turn overs one which was returned for a TD toward the end of the first half which incidently was the last score of the game. Gilbert completed 50% of his 44 attempts for 1 TD and 1 interception. Not the game I want him to have but I its better then last week and that is a must just need to limit the weeks of backward progress. And a plus to The Miners seems to be their defensive secondary and pass rush seem to create terrible atmospheres for QBs because no one seems to be efficient againist them, SMU 50%, ECU 3 ints, WIS 12 completions, NMSU 42%, OU 21/36.

Next week Gilbert must take the Mustangs to face win less Tulane. The Green Wave have yet to score a rushing TD and have scored only 4 passing TDs on 902 yds split between three different QBs. The point for the Mustangs will be don’t over look them you don’t want to be the team that let’s them score their first rushing TD or worse. Note the last game Tulane won … was Sept 17 2011, yes last year, a 15 game losing streak.

Longhorns Vs Mountaineers (Week 6 2012)

TAMU and Mizzou have easily definable games to measure their success in their new conference. With the SEC full of talented and “better-than-your-average” teams the first games there are a bit more fruitfull in determining a teams instant worth and future impact on a conference.

But for West Virginia entiring a conference ranging widly in collective talent the teams first few games will have to be measured as a determinate for future impact. The game this week againist the longhorns is going to be a better measure of West Virginia as a program.

Longhorns are gonna have to limit an element of the West Virginia offense. The mountaineers are great on offense because of there versatility. If the longhorn defense can prove to shut down one element they can win, be it Geno, Austin, or Alston. That though will be extremely tough considering that each one of these elements had career game last week.

West Virginia has to do one thing to beat Texas and that is stop the run. So far this year the Horns have run for 912 yds with both Joe Bergeron and Malcom Brown having an average of 250 yds a piece and roughly 5 yds a carry. Though Brown won’t be in this game, ankle injury, he has a replacement in Jonathan Gray who has 157 yds on 33 carries this season. Look for Grays influence on the game be key in the outcome.

Duck Defense Vs. Keith Price (Week 6 2012 Oregon)

The best Dark Horse this Season … The Huskers behind Keith Price. The Ducks are going to need to play excetional defense againist Price if they want to pull away from the Huskies. The Huskies just upset the top ranked Standford Cardinal. Now granted they did it on a few big plays but the point is they Can.

Oregons last game was just like all the ones before under chip, slow start but brutal second half. Mariota needs to keep the ball in Oregons possesion and direct the ball to De’Anthony and Kenjon. If the game is still close at the beginning of the fourth quarter then the Ducks have missed something up.

Keith Price will decide how good of a game this will be. Yes he can bet the Ducks if the Duck defense let’s him. The Ducks let Mike Leachs Washington State club throw for nearly 400 yds on 60 attempts. Price has never thrown for 400 and the Huskies offense won’t throw the ball 60 times, but allowing the opportunity isn’t advisable.

QUACK QUACK QUACK.
