GT v. Virginia – Plus, the defense held the Virginia offence scoreless the entire second half of the game. Minus, by the time the second half started the Jackets were already losing. And with the road map that Maryland laid out last week for stopping Paul Johnson’s offence, the Virginia defense did just that. The Jackets need to figure out how to work around or correct these problems. The Miami defense has a lot more potential than the Virginia defense and would be a lot harder on the Paul Johnson offense.
Oregon v. ASU – With the hype surrounding the tallest QB in FBS football, 6′ 8″ Brock Osweiler, Arizona State looked to be in an optimal position this year to defeat the talent Oregon Duck’s. But in usual Duck fashion the game ended with a large margin of victory. The Duck’s relied on the explosive speed of Kenyon Barner since their Heisman hopeful LaMichael James is still nursing the dislocated elbow from last game. To add to the value and depth of the injury list the starting OB Darren Thomas went out late in the game for a mild concussion. Though the Ducks seem down a bright spot on the horizon is De’Anthony “DAT” Thomas. The young freshman has added speed an diversity to the team which has help them score more points.
Texas v. OK State – So bouncing back from the disappointment that was the Red River Rivalry is hard but Texas came out with the intent to due just that. They were out gunned by Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackman but they aren’t the first and won’t be the last. The pair connected 7 times for 74 yards and a TD. With the quick strike potential ever present its hard for defense to concentrate on the run ad that killed Texas this week. Jeremy Smith had 7 touches for 140 yards and 2 TD’s. Plus, Foswhitt Whittaker return a kick-off 100 yds for a score this is his second 100 yd kick return in 2 games. Cap’n America got jets!
